The W3C has taken HTML features that have become de facto standards, pulled them in under the banner of HTML5.
W3C has proposed a plan to finalise HTML5.0 as a W3C Recommendation by Q4 of 2014 and has also announced to follow it up by HTML5.1 in 2016. Earlier it was expected to be released in a distant 2022.
