Dice Holdings, owner of job portals like Dice.com announced that it will buy online media business of Geeknet which includes websites like Sourceforge, Slashdot and Freecode. Geeknet will instead start focusing on growing its business from ThinkGeek.

Security Loophole in Internet Explorer found

Microsoft has recognized that a major security loophole has been found in Internet Explorer and it is working to get the issue fixed as soon as it can. Meanwhile it has suggested a list of workarounds. This has forced Germany to suggest using other browsers for the time being.

Google Apps to Stop Supporting IE8 Soon

In continuation with its policy of supporting only the two latest releases of every browser for its Google Apps products, Google has announced that it will stop supporting Internet Explorer 8 on 15 November 2012 after Internet Explorer 10 is launched on 26 October 2012.

Google Blocks Acer’s Aliyun OS phone

Google has blocked the release of Acer’s phone based on Aliyun OS, developed by Alibaba group in China. It claimed that Aliyun OS was a fork of Android and Acer as a member of Open Handset Alliance, has pleged not to support Non-Android Compatible mobile platforms.

Mark Zuckerberg admitted that betting on HTML5 was a big mistake and that the technology is just not there yet. Facebook is now working to release a native app for Android and tweaking the iOS version released a month back.
