Open-Xchange goes distributed with Hazelcast

Previously, when an OX server was shut down for maintenance, all user sessions on the machine were lost. Users were required to login again.

The new distributed session storage capabilities, powered by Hazelcast IMDG, ensure all user sessions are backed up in a distributed fashion meaning they are no longer bound to a specific server node.

User session data remains available after a server has been shut down and can be accessed from the remaining nodes in the cluster. This load-balancing technique routes users to another server, neatly avoiding ‘session expired’ errors and maintaining a smooth user experience.

Greg Luck, CEO of Hazelcast, said: “As the first and most pervasive open source memory store technology, we are always looking to work with like-minded organizations who build their products with open source stacks. By using Hazelcast IMDG, OX is able to increase customer satisfaction, maximize throughput, and minimize response time.”
