BlackBerry has just released the newest version for BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.1, which is the leading cross platform Enterprise Mobility Management product from the company. This enables organizations to manage corporate owned or BYOD devices, whether they are iOS, Android or BlackBerry based. This goes on to show the organization’s capability and its tendency to position itself as cross platform software oriented firm. While the future of BlackBerry 10 phones is still yet to be decided, this is one product where BlackBerry can show its prowess and march ahead while cutting its losses. According to a press release from BlackBerry, more than 12,000 servers around the world have now installed BlackBerry Enterprise Service Servers and this update will be free for all the existing customers. The update brings with it a lot of new features including an improved dashboard, support for High Availability and failover, better IT policy management options, easier install process and also bundles with it a free BlackBerry Support plan. J Smith, EVP, Enterprise Mobile Computing at BlackBerry said, “Extending BlackBerry security, device and application management to iOS and Android frees our customers from the need to invest in multiple device management technologies, giving them an easy and cost-effective upgrade path to a solution that supports their entire mobile environment globally.” As part of a further update to be released in June 2013, BlackBerry will be releasing Secure Work Space for all the platforms which will provide enhanced security and separation of personal and work data, a functionality that is similar to its BlackBerry devices which have it in the form of the BlackBerry Balance feature.
