Edge Animate is Adobe’s designer-centric HTML
editing tool that allows one to create complex animations and interaction in HTML. Adobe previewed a tool called EDGE back in 2010 at Adobe MAX. This was to be an HTML editor designed to make it easier to work with animations and dynamic content. Since then Adobe has released numerous preview versions of their this tool as Adobe Edge, and as of its latest preview (7) they renamed it to Adobe Edge Animate. Now they have released the first commercial version as Adobe Edge Animate 1.0 and made it a part of their Creative Cloud offering along with other products of the Adobe Edge brand. 
Like most of Adobe’s preview products, Adobe Edge Animate was free for all during the preview period. Adobe has decided to make the product free as an “introductory offer” so that they can continue to get more and better feedback. Now that it has released though, it is part of Adobe Creative Cloud, and available for those who subscribe to the service (even if for free). This is not the end of the journey for Adobe Edge Animate, as Adobe promises to release further updates to the product over time.
