Necessitas is a project started by Bogdan Vatra with the aim of brining support for Android to Qt. Now it is driven by the KDE community and it seems it has come quite a long way.
The latest Alpha 4 release is out , it is the last alpha before the framework hits beta stage. In fact if no regressions are reported for this alpha, it will be re-released / marked as the first beta. The API and ABI will remain stable during the beta, which means developers can begin publishing applications developed using Necessitas to Google Play or other Android app stores.
This release brings a number of new features, and fixes numerous bugs. With this release Qt applications will have a native look and feel and use native Android menus.
Digia, which recently took over Qt, also had support for
Android among its goals for Qt. Hopefully they will work with the community to further refine this port.
You can find out more about this latest port from the release announcement.
