Parse moves to support Facebook’s 3rd generation SDK for Android

Cloud app platform Parse has released an update that helps Android developers enhance support for Facebook’s new SDK. The update includes an updated user interface that interacts deeply with users’ Facebook data, like Friends and Check-ins.

Parse is the cloud app platform for iOS, Android, JavaScript, Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, and OS X. With Parse, you can add a scalable and powerful backend in minutes and launch a full-featured app in record time without ever worrying about server management. According to its website, currently there are over 50,000 Parse-powered apps in the market across more than 100 million devices.

One of the main highlights of the new update is the enhanced integration with Facebook login with better session management, streamlining the login process and integration with the native Facebook Android app. Moreover, the recently launched third-generation Facebook SDK for Android was tailor-made to help users avoid the “Yet Another Password” fatigue that one experiences when one needs to remember an increasingly higher number of passwords to log into websites and platforms.

In addition to better session management, the latest update has added drop-in user interface components to help pick friends, locations, and in displaying profile images. The SDK also allows apps to batch requests to Facebook’s Graph API while providing “strongly-typed Java interfaces” for interacting with Facebook Graph objects. The update also includes tools that help developers in monitoring their mobile app install ads.

In a nutshell, Parse has rolled out this useful update to allow Android developers integrate their apps with the latest version of the Facebook SDK, allowing them to take full advantage of all the available features and functionality.
