OpenSUSE for ARM now Available

The popular OpenSUSE Linux distribution has made its first release for the ARM platform with an ARM version of its latest openSUSE 12.2 version.

ARM as you might be aware is the most popular architecture in use today for tablets and mobile phones due to its low power consumption, and it is not creeping into laptops and even servers as well.

There is also now an abundance of ARM based mini-computers, such as the Raspberry Pi, and Linux is best option for such systems. While Microsoft has released a version of Windows for ARM now, it is not available to the average hobbyist, or for owners of existing ARM-based devices.

As of now, openSUSE 12.2 supports the following devices (according to the release):

In addition, the following can also run openSUSE for ARM:

A Raspberry Pi version should be coming next as support for it already seems to be in development the Factory version.
