Google Developer Group, Bangalore is organising an Android App Expo event to be held on January 05, 2013 in order to connect with the Android developer community and appreciate those apps from Indian developers which are popular among the users. The competition involves several prizes and is aimed at attracting all kinds of people from startups, large organisations as well as individual contributors. Such events, though funded by Google, are independently organised by the community members and enthusiasts who intend to collaborate and meet new people with similar interests.

The App Expo will give an opportunity for developers to showcase their app and will be judged by a panel of experts along with a public vote among the spectators to gauge the popularity of the application. The evaluation process is expected to have two rounds. In the first round, the members of GDG, Bangalore and Bangalore Android User Group will evaluate and filter the contestants among which the top 50 will be chosen to be invited to the event to take the stage and give a demo of the application. The event is also expected to have quite a few speaker sessions and community discussions, the details of which are expected to be announced on their website soon.
