Box (formerly known as box.net), the online file sharing and cloud storage service recently arrived on Windows Phone. Currently available on several platforms including Android, BlackBerry, iOS and webOS, the cloud service is now available on Windows Phone.
With a free account of box, you get 5 GB of online storage space for your files. Developers can now use the Box API to develop applications for enterprise IT and business use case scenarios as well. Some of the popular services that use the Box API are EchoSign, Zoho, Twitter and also other OpenBox services that have been added by Salesforce, Google Apps, FedEx and others. There are now more than 60 OpenBox services available including IFTTT, XML Viewer for box, and several others.
After recent reports of investment from an equity firm, the company is now believed to be valued at approximately $1.5 billion. Already available on most mobile platforms, the next thrust will likely be on Windows 8 and its Metro UI.
