New Actian Zen delivers a nano database footprint solution for IoT
Actian, a hybrid data management, analytics and integration company, has
released Actian Zen Embedded database, a multiplatform, embeddable database
for developers delivering applications to self-managed, small footprint
environments.
Actian Zen is suited to meet the needs of software developers and data-driven device manufacturers delivering IoT applications.
Applications operating in zero management IT environments have distinctly different database requirements than those seen in the typical enterprise datacenter. These databases run, sometimes for years, without any intervention and are often embedded in the application with installation and operation fully automated and hidden from the end user. These use cases require extreme database reliability, modularity and scalability throughout the life of the product. The stakes are high for the software vendor since thousands of copies of their applications are in use, often on a global basis, so even a minor increase in customer support issues could quickly swamp a support organization and obliterate profit margins.
